Main themes
The 4 days of fieldwork are devoted to an examination of aspects of the geology of Belgium to illustrate, in three dimensions, the basic geological phenomena treated in the courses AGRO1100 and GEO1251. The various features of physical geography are considered in context, and attention is given to the exploitation of rocks and their uses.

Content
The course consists in six days in the field that aim at exploring the geography of Belgium by a panorama of landscapes. Two days are allocated to urban and periurban geography. They illustrate concepts that the students will have studied in class LGEO1221. Two days are allocated to Belgian geology, with the concrete and tri-dimensional study of geological objects. Finally, two days are allocated to geology and physical geography, and rural geography. The four days covering geology develop further the bases described in courses LBIR1130 and LGEO1251.

Taking part in the field excursion is compulsory. Any absence must be justified as soon as possible with a medical certificate.

Evaluation methods
Preparing and presenting a comment on a designated place based on historical maps (1 preparation for each student across all excursions): 20%
Field notes and drawings will be sorted and cleaned up and handed back to the teachers within a week of the excursion. This stands as the report. They will be handed in R. Rousseau's pigeonhole on the 3rd floor in the Mercator building. 30%
Oral exam during the session on the identification of rocks and minerals collected during the excursions: 20%
Oral presentation during the session of a story map focused on one of the places visited based on the field visit as well as the bibliographic and cartographic work in the library: 30%
Second session : marks of the presentation of historic maps and field notes are attached to all session. Oral exams will have to be presented again.
