| 1 | At the end of the course the successful student will be able to understand how science works, to conduct research into databases that cover movement sciences topics (ex : Pubmed, Scopus), to find and assess scientific literature and to apply this knowledge to the preparation of a thesis in physical education field. |
Content
1) The scientific method: theoretical concepts are taught and illustrated through presentations made by professors and assistants working in various fields of movement sciences research.
2) Literature search and use of bibliographic databases in motor sciences : theoretical concepts and computer exercises on Pubmed and Scopus databases. This module is taught with the collaboration of the librarian.

Teaching methods
Theoretical course in lecture halls and in computer rooms.
Theoretical concepts are illustrated through examples in scientific publications.

Evaluation methods
The examination is organized in two parts :
- The use bibliographic databases to search the scientific literature is assessed before the exam session. (30% of final score)
- The critical review of the literature based on theoretical concepts of the scientific method is assessed by a written exam during the exam session (70% of the final score).
