This course covers the principles and methods of designing and organizing sampling surveys in demography and the social sciences. It covers the following elements:
- The origin and place of surveys in the production of knowledge in social sciences.
- The main stages in the design and organisation of a survey (definition of objectives, population, etc.)
- Sampling techniques
- Questionnaire design
- Practical organization of a survey
Teaching methods
Lectures with many interactions and strong involvement of students through regular productions and presentations (survey presentations, design of questionnaire modules, etc.).
Evaluation methods
Written exam for LDEMO2402, and assessment of intermediate presentations and final output (questionnaire module and survey design) for LSOC2095.
