Content
We address the psychomotor development of the young child. First, we study the development of healthy children from birth to 3 years of age in terms of archaic and tendon reflexes, motor reactions, tone and motor acquisitions. Then we look at the motor acquisitions of the child between 3 and 8 years old: general coordination, fine motor skills, laterality, body schema, spatial and temporal organization.
We will also discuss psychomotricity and its deficits in old age.

Teaching methods
The theoretical course is given in auditory. The practical sessions are organized in groups of about thirty students defined by the faculty.
Theoretical course with video illustration
Practical course with very young children (babies from 0 to 3 years old) to learn the assessments of the young child. Course is given by the technical advisor
Practice with 4-6-year-olds to work on psychomotor components. Students come to class with a child ages 3-6 and give a psychomotor session.
Students also have the opportunity to go on an observation placement to see psychomotricity in toddlers, in schools, clubs, baby swimmers. They must then report the information to others in the form of a power point.

Evaluation methods
In this course, students are assessed in two ways:
- the continuous certificate assessment including a mandatory oral presentation (observation stage or practical TP with a child) to be carried out during the periods of TPs assigned to you by the FSM (50% of the final grade-part A)
- a written exam QCM on Moodle (TEST) in session (50% of the final grade-part B). The QCM is composed of 15 multiple choice questions with one or more correct answers, true or false, and short answers. One point is assigned to each correct answer and no point is assigned if there is no answer or incorrect answer. It takes place on Moodle (TEST) and lasts 30 minutes.
The final grade is the arithmetic average of the grades in Parts A and B. - Presence at TPs is required. Course holders may, under Article 72 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, propose to the jury to oppose the registration of a student who has not attended at least 1/3 of the TPs (i.e. absence at 4 TPs out of 6), during the January/June or September session. The absence of 2 TPs will lead to a decrease in the rating of part A of 30%, the absence of 3 TPs out of 6 will lead to a decrease in the rating of part A of 50%

Mobile phones and tablets are forbidden during practice with the small child. Students must behave correctly (not lie down on the tables.). If the instructions are not respected, the teacher can kick you out of the class and give a sanction ( extra work).
