LGLOR1542 and/or LGLOR1671/1672 or knowledge of Sanskrit estimated sufficient by the teacher.
Main themes
An introduction to the Buddhist philology, axed on the ancient languages of South and Central Asia.
The course deals with the grammar and vocabulary of one or several of the Buddhist languages of South and Central Asia: Indo-Aryan languages (Buddhist Sanskrit, Pali, Gandhari), Middle Iranian languages (Khotanese, Sogdian), Tokharian languages, Old Uyghur, Classical Tibetan or Mongolian; as well as the reading and commentary of selected texts.
