Prerequisites
An in-depth knowledge of Latin.
Main themes
This course takes into account the principal aspects of the teaching of ancient languages in the secondary school of today:
1. The focuses according to the levels;
2. Reading of authors;
3. Familiarisation with ancient cultures and civilisations;
4. Conception and execution of methods of evaluation adapted the aims in view;
5. Acritical view of the teaching possibilities offered by the multimedia;
6. An analysis of the programs within the framework of the "Missions" decree and within its extension to the different structures of "Final competences and required learning in Latin".
This course includes a reflection on the characteristics of a high-quality communication, and in particular its adaptation to the public to which it is destined (a critical analysis of the text-books designed for the teaching of latin at the secondary level).
The THEA and IAD students follow the item no. 5 only.
 
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 The student, by the end of this course should have learned to design, organise and evaluate teaching activities and learning situations for courses of Latin at different levels in secondary education. He will be capable of  preparing lessons in a scientific and methodical manner, such lessons as are to be given in the first stage of teaching.
The student will also have understood the status, the component parts, and the scope of the programs, which he will have read with a critical eye. He will have put together original teaching lessons, adapted to the different levels in the secondary system (development final abilities in the pupils).
The student will also have an introduction, via the TIC, to the analysis of oral and written communication of a scientific subject, and especially to the critical reading of school textbooks.
 
Content

He will be capable of  preparing lessons in a scientific and methodical manner, such lessons as are to be given in the first stage of teaching.

He will have put together original teaching lessons, adapted to the different levels in the secondary system ( development final abilities in the pupils).
The student will also have an introduction, via the TIC, to the analysis of oral and written communication of a scientific subject, and especially to the critical reading of school textbooks.
 
Teaching methods
Lectures with the involvement and active participation of the students placed in theoretical learning situations.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam with written and multimedia elements.
