General survey of the cultural developments of the English-speaking countries. By the end of the course, students are expected to have acquired an understanding of the culture of the countries where English is a major language. |
Content
This course provides an overview of British cultural history by summarizing the histories of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland; by sketching the history of British painting; and by exploring several themes that play a crucial role in the history of England and beyond, including Brexit and the British Empire.
