The complementary practical work will allow the student to put into practice his basic training in practical exercises related to organic and medicinal chemistry, polymer chemistry and (bio)-inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry or structural chemistry.
The student will discover how the knowledge acquired during his training can be used and put into practice in the service of a project that will feed the research laboratories.

Content
The additional practical work is a compulsory activity in the course of the Advanced Chemistry student who does not go on an internship either outside UCLouvain or abroad. They will be carried out in the framework of a UCLouvain host laboratory. The practical work will take place on a full-time basis, except for attendance at lectures or other practical exercises. They will take place in the second semester of the first year of the Master. The practical work will be supervised by an internship supervisor in the host research team (internship promoter) who will be in charge of establishing an agenda for the work and ensuring the supervision of the intern.The choice of the host laboratory(ies) and the internship supervisor will be proposed to the student by the university supervisor. A diversity of laboratories will be encouraged in order to open the trainee to various fields of interest in chemistry.

Evaluation methods
The practical work complements give rise to a written report according to an outline set by the academic person in charge of this work. The final evaluation will be based on this document, as well as on the evaluation of the progress of the work by the local "training supervisor" and on an oral defense (presentation and questions) by a jury made up of academic members of the UCLouvain, with priority given to the heads of the laboratories that hosted the student.
