Main themes
These courses are focused on preliminary investigations (of the subsoil, analysis and diagnosis of damages and degradation) and plans to manage historic parks and gardens.
The appreciation of the term "historic garden" as a living monument (charter of Florence) and all its components (monumental, vegetal, and landscaped) requires the acquisition of thorough knowledge of the history and the evolution of art and gardens from Antiquity to the present.
The courses also include the specific constraints and conditions which determine the conservation-restoration of the archaeological element preserved in situ or monument in ruins. The pathologies will be covered along with methods and protection techniques to preserve, consolidate, maintain and monitor monuments and their remains. These topics will be reviewed within the decision making framework. Also in their valorisation, conservation-restoration, partial reconstitution, anastylosis and their integration into new structures built to expose and/or protect them.
