Provide a foundation course in Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. The students should also be able to analyse reference books with a criticizing mind. |

The course is an introduction to Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology.
Phonetics and phonology (vowels, diphthongs, consonants; co-articulation; accentuation and intonation).
Morphology (especially lexical morphology, loanwords and neologisms).

Oral examinationTo pass this course, it is necessary to pass both parts of the exam (phonology and morphology). A failure of one of the two parts implies a failure for the entire course. On the other hand, if you pass one of the two parts of the exam, you will be exempted for that part at the next examination session.
At the oral exam special attention will be paid to the language skills (in particular the pronunciation of Dutch).
