The course covers the following two linguistic fields :
1. Syntax : grammatical categories ; syntactic and semantic functions ; phrases ; simple, complex and compound sentences.
2. Stylistics : analysis of the lexical and syntactic differences between different varieties of English (speech vs writing ; formal vs informal style).

Teaching methods
The course will be taught through a combination of live sessions on Microsoft Teams, as well as pre-recorded videos and activities (among which quizzes) available on the Moodle platform.
Evaluation methods
Active participation in the activities proposed on Moodle (including the quizzes) will count for 10% of the final grade.
