Conflicts will be analyzed under various angles:
- Ethnic dimensions;
- Cultural dimensions;
- Historical power rivalries;
- Economic interests and access to natural resources;
- Diplomatic means used in conflicts (bilateral diplomacy, international organizations, regional organizations, contact groups) and their efficiency.
Aims
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | In this seminar, students will be asked to analyze a series of actual or possible conflicts in the post-soviet space: Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. They will prepare presentations and handle group discussions with invited speakers. |

The seminar is coordinated by the teacher, but most presentations are made by the students and by invited speakers.
