Prerequisite : having acquired a sufficient level of proficiency in the subject area to be used as application area for this course and being accepted as a candidate for tutoring groups for a course in this subject area. Assessment: the student will be assessed on the basis of a report submitted by the internship supervisor and on the basis of the portfolio. After completing this course, students will be able to manage groups of learners engaged in collaborative learning in a specific domain, under different learning conditions and in various learning environments. They will know how to create, develop, and maintain a suitable cooperation frame of mind among group members and they will know how to react when faced with various problems within a group.

Content
The course consists in:
- an introduction to the behaviour of learning groups and to the roles of a tutor;
- an "internship" as a teaching tutor to manage groups of learners for a course in a subject area of the student's choice (approval of a professor responsible for the course is strictly required); the work will apply various pedagogical approaches developed at UCLouvain and will be supervised by a "internship supervisor" in cooperation with the course's teacher;
- continuous education, as a complement to the tutoring activity, in order to stimulate reflection on the roles of the teacher and of the group facilitator for the course;
- readings on various themes of interest. The student is expected to build a portfolio during his/her tutoring activity.
Teaching methods
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.
The tutor candidate shall participate since the VERY beginning of the quadrimester to several teaching activities during which he/she will be placed in real situations of supervised tutoring. He/she shall also participate to several learning modules distributed along the quadrimester. The participation is required since the VERY first day of the quadrimester.During the quadrimester, he/she will have an "internship" during which he/she will act as tutor for the discipline he/she has chosen AND has been selected in advance.
Evaluation methods
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.
The tutor shall write dairy and shall construct an on-line portfolio following a scheme and instructions received of the Moodle website of this course. The portfolio will be used as a basis for evaluation. The evaluation grid is available on-line and is commented by the teaching staff.

The participation in this course is strictly linked to the fact the the tutor-candidate has been previously selected by a teacher/responsible of a course/dsicpline in which the tutor plans to act. He/she will then be tutor during the next quadrimester.
The recruitement and selection process starts at the end of the second quadrimester of the previous academic year aroud mid-May to end of June following a procedure set up by EPL secretariat. The selection procedure ends after the exams deliberations of the second session of the previous academic year.
The candidate shall be aware that this tutor teaching activities start the VERY first day of the quadrimester during which they will act as junior-tutor for the first time.
