Although we do not yet know how long the social distancing related to the Covid-19 pandemic will last, and regardless of the changes that had to be made in the evaluation of the June 2020 session in relation to what is provided for in this learning unit description, new learnig unit evaluation methods may still be adopted by the teachers; details of these methods have been - or will be - communicated to the students by the teachers, as soon as possible.

The work placement is a first experience in the working world and is directly linked to the Master in Modern Languages and Literatures.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 The work placement module obliges students to contact companies in Belgium and/or abroad in order to find a one-month work placement in a public or private company. By the end of the work placement, students will have learned a lot about the business world and will have applied in a practical way the concepts and theories learned in their language and business courses.

Content
The objective of the work placement is to enable students to participate in a companies activities thereby applying the theoretical concepts acquired in their language and business courses in the Master in Modern Languages and Literatures: General. During their work placement, students should also use on a daily basis at least one of their two major languages. Students must write and orally defend a report on their work placement. (See Other information). The report must respect the scientific and bibliographical conventions in this regard.

Evaluation methods
The work placement will be evaluated by means of a detailed report (6,000-7,500 words) and an oral defense of 10 minutes (5 minutes PowerPoint presentation and 5 minutes question and answer session). The report and oral defense must be in one of the students' major languages and will be evaluated by a supervisor (teacher) appointed by the work placement committee.
A fail for the written report or for the oral defense means an overall fail for the internship.
