Main themes
The student is asked to attend three series of physics seminars : (1) seminars on subjects of general interest or hot topics in physics, (2) in-depth seminars on research topics related directly or indirectly to the student's Master's thesis and (3) seminars given by former physics students on their experience of professional integration.

Specific learning outcomes of the teaching unit At the end of this teaching unit, the student will be able to : 1. report on recent advances in physics research ; 2. structure an oral physics presentation showing the key elements of the subject ; 3. convince an audience composed of scientists of the relevance of a result in physics ; 4. take a step back on his/her training in physics ; 5. anticipate the problems of employability at the end of his/her studies. |

Content
The content of the seminars changes from year to year depending on the speakers. The detailed programme is fixed at the beginning of each semester.

Evaluation methods
The student is required to attend all seminars corresponding to points (1) and (3) mentioned in the section "aims" above and to a minimum of six seminars corresponding to point (2), to be chosen from a list. At the end of the year, he/she is asked to present orally (in about fifteen minutes, preferably in English) in front of the holders of the teaching unit a scientific article of physics that he will have chosen in consultation with them. This article cannot, in any case, appear in the bibliographical list of the student's Master’s thesis. The presentation of the article will be followed by some questions asked to the student by the holders of the teaching unit.
