Prerequisites
Students should also be registered for teaching practice (HIST 9001) and for the teaching practice seminar for history (HIST 2313).
Main themes
The course will examine various aspects of teaching history in secondary schools, namely :
- legal regulations, references, and programmes relating to the French-speaking community in Belgium;
- means of creating and implementing an instructional sequence intended to teach certain historical knowledge and knowledge of how to pursue the discipline of history;
- means of creating and implementing an instructional sequence intended to teach certain skills needed by students in history classes ;
- conceptual skills ;
- evaluation of student learning (knowledge, knowledge of methods, skills), both functional (training vs. certification) and technical.

Upon completion of the course students should be able to : - create, organize, and evaluate an instructional sequence in history intended for secondary-level students ; - critically analyse an instructional sequence intended for secondary-level students. |

Content
The course will alternate between exposition of theories and the presentation and critical analysis of instructional sequences in history and other practical tasks.
