1. The course covers two linguistics fields: Dutch syntax and contrastive linguistics Dutch-French.
2. Introduction to the reading (and writing) of scientific articles.
3. Presentation of reference books.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Provide a foundation course in Dutch syntax and in contrastive linguistics Dutch-French. The students should also be able to analyse reference books with a criticizing mind.

Content
The course is an introduction to Dutch syntax focussing on different aspects of word order. A portfolio of scientific articles will give an overview of word order phenomena in Dutch, including regional and diamnesic variation.

Evaluation methods
Oral exam based on the portfolio. During the exam, the oral competence of the student will also be evaluated: 4 points out of 20 could be lost in case of unsatisfactory language (fluency, grammar, vocabulary).
