Main themes
In this training course the student confronts the concrete realities of the editing trade. It is the logical prolongation of course LCLIB 2001 for students following the Professional Focus in Library studies. It allows the student to acquire mastery of professional page setting programmes and apply certain concepts studied in the context of theoretical courses.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 This training course develops the student's familiarity with the publishing trade via mastery of page setting and editing. At the end of the training course, the student should be able to use a computer assisted publication instrument (CA) and be able to publish an original document (reflection on the guidelines, conceiving the model, acquisition of texts and images, page setting, production of PDF, etc.).

Content
4 lessons (of 2 hours) on InDesign software given between November and December. Then two individual meetings to discuss the project: one in February, the other in April.

Computer room sessions (4x 2 hours)
Evaluation methods
Carrying out of a own layout work (a book, a magazine, ...) about twenty pages minimum, from the design to the printing and binding, + a report of 2-3 pages on the editorial, graphic and copyright management choices. This work is due in May / August
