Although we do not yet know how long the social distancing related to the Covid-19 pandemic will last, and regardless of the changes that had to be made in the evaluation of the June 2020 session in relation to what is provided for in this learning unit description, new learnig unit evaluation methods may still be adopted by the teachers; details of these methods have been - or will be - communicated to the students by the teachers, as soon as possible.

Main themes
The theme varies annually, from purely demographic issues to broader social sciences or health issues. Among recent themes we can mention " Reproductive health in the North and in the South. From knowledge to action " (2004), " The history of Belgium's population and its territories " (2005). The conference is organized by different teams, gathering professors and researchers of the Institute of demog-raphy, of other faculty members of the UCLouvain, other Belgian or foreign universities, working in the related research field.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1. Acquire an in depth vision of the progress achieved in knowledge and methods in a specific research field ;
 
2. Be able to write a paper on or make an oral synthesis of a selection of contributions ;
 
3. Meet international specialists in the related fields.
