Main themes
The Thematic Architectural Project: Regions unit is an introduction to urban and regional development. It presents the issues of infrastructure and networks of public facilities, as well as to the ranges of the urban settings for the project. It is designed to develop an analysis of an intervention site and a design of an inhabited complex, from and around the public spaces of the site. It works using repetition, structured between analysis and project by bringing together the environmental, landscape, morphological, social, cultural and economic aspects that make up the site.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Specific learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to
  • set their thinking within the interdisciplinary field necessary for urban and regional development projects.
  • discover and make a critical and sensitive assessment of all the component features of the riches and resources of inhabited complexes and site them in built up areas and regions.
  • design a project to structure and configure an inhabited region, at a local level.

Place the action
  • Analyse the environments and contexts according to various given methods and starting from various identified points of view
Express an architectural procedure
  • Test and use relevant means of communication in relation to the target objectives
Make committed choices
  • Understand the merits of an idea which can lead to the objectives to be achieved by the project; follow through with determination, even by means of a modest intervention, the implementation of this idea and the achievement of these objectives.
