Although we do not yet know how long the social distancing related to the Covid-19 pandemic will last, and regardless of the changes that had to be made in the evaluation of the June 2020 session in relation to what is provided for in this learning unit description, new learnig unit evaluation methods may still be adopted by the teachers; details of these methods have been - or will be - communicated to the students by the teachers, as soon as possible.

Examination of the expressive value of architecture and art
  • Meaningful links in perception of space (architectural production/ pictorial production)
  • Images within a work (as a vehicle for ideas or concepts and the multiple meanings ascribed to the relationship between the form and content of the work)
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Specific learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to
  • establish through analysis meaningful links in perception of space.
  • talk about the images within the work, imagining drivers able to transform perception of reality.
  • make use of images in the design process.

Test an artistic approach
  • To capture the 'spirit of the time' and identify the means which will enable it to be revealed
  • To reformulate, assimilate a question and explore various possible avenues to respond to it
Build knowledge of architecture
  • Be familiar with and analyse the discipline's basic references
  • Be able to use given references which, by analogy, can lead to other interpretations of the context
Make use of other subjects
  • Seek out other approaches, exchanges of views and ways of enhancing thinking about architecture
  • Make strategic use of other subjects to put into question the design and implementation of an architectural project
