Main themes
This cross-curricular course, jointly given by two professors, will focus on a biblical theme or figure common to both Testaments.
[On theme, for example: the temple, the sacrifice, the law, the stranger, etc.; on figure, for example: David, Moses, Elijah, Abraham, etc.]
Content
The purpose of this class is to give a clear idea of both the unity and internal diversity of the two Testaments. This year, the theme studied is the theme of the Messiah, which is widely represented in the prophetic books of the Old Testament and the psalms and which is the subject of rereading in the New Testament about the figure of Jesus. After an introductory session, the figure of David and the so-called messianic promise, the psalms, the messianic oracles will be studied. Then comes a synthesis of the situation of "messianism" in 1st century Judaism that will transition to the study of the theme in the New Testament (gospels, acts, epistles). The last session will offer a synthesis and a theological perspective.
Teaching methods
The course involves working on texts and reading of articles (possibly in foreign languages).
Evaluation methods
The evaluation method will be specified during the class and clearly explained on the Moodle website dedicated to the course.
