Prerequisites
The productive command of basic grammar and vocabulary as well as the command of the language skills of the A2+ (minimum) or B1- level as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Main themes
This teaching unit treats subjects about themes that are related to the study programme and the future professional needs of the student. E.g. Videos about child psychology, psychology in the work environment, etc.

Content
This teaching unit focuses mainly on oral production and listening. There are a few texts for reading compréhension to be read at home.
It deals with themes related to the area of study. Video and audio fragments as well as som texts are used to illustrated the themes. Each theme will be followed by discussions giving the student the possibility to use the newly acquired vocabulary and structures. In the course of the year the students will give a mini presentation on a psychological subject.

Teaching methods
- Lessons in groups of max. 20 students.
- Workload -
Classroom hours : 30 h
Self-study (including e-learning): 30 h - Extension of psychology vocabulary . In all cases the vocabulary is presented in context by means of topical listening documents. Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform)
- Training and development of listening skills through authentique documents focussing mainly on psychological themes, by means of classroom teaching. Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform)
- Training and development of speaking skills in professional contexts by means of classroom teaching . Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform).
- Training and development of reading skills, done at home and tested in class.
Evaluation methods
- Vocabulary test and listening comprehension test in week 13 of Q1 (10 %)
- Vocabulary test (20%) and test on listening comprehension (25%) and reading comprehension (15%° in the penultimate week of the course (May)
- Oral test (last week of the course in May) (25%)
- Active and motivated presence and participation in class: 5%
IMPORTANT!: It is impossible to learn and improve a language without any regular practice.
Therefore, for this UE article 72 will be invoked. This means explicitly that students who have not been present at the learning activities at a regular basis (= more than 3 unjustified cases of absenteeism per quadrimester, could be excluded from enrollment for the exams of this EU by the jury.
