Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :
1	To learn the key concepts on the pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapeutics of the most common musculoskeletal disorders, with special emphasis on the differential diagnosis and the need for a multidisciplinary approach. Some more specific issues will be addressed in optional lessons

Content

This teaching unit consists of lectures, clinical courses in auditorium and seminars in small groups. The pathologies of the locomotor sector are discussed in six different courses whose contents are integrated: Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Physical Medicine, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacology and Anatomy-Pathology

Teaching methods

The rheumatology course deals with pathologies according to their bone, abarticular, joint or systemic nature. The orthopaedic course addresses them by region (hip, knee, foot) and separately for children and adults. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation course provides functional concepts, disability and locomotor rehabilitation. Radiology and pathological anatomy courses contribute to teaching through iconography and histo-pathological data. Finally, therapeutic aspects are more specifically discussed in the pharmacology course.

Evaluation methods

The evaluation in the first session will be carried out via MCQs based on clinical histories and clinical cases that integrate clinical, biological, radiological, anatomical-pathological and therapeutic medical and surgical concepts. For medical imaging, the questions relate to images that are presented during the examination.
The evaluation in the second session is done via QROCs also based on clinical cases.
