Logic is an essential element in the analysis and construction of discourse, and is indispensable to making an effective argument. The course will cover the foundations of logic, such as propositional logic, syllogisms, truth values, quantifiers, universal and particular statements, logical paradoxes, etc. For what more directly concerns argument, we will deal with the notions of deduction, induction, fallacious argument, techniques of manipulation, etc.
The practice of written argument will be the subject of practical work sessions in which students must put into practice the concepts covered in the course.
