From the expertise of Western or Asian specialists of Taiwan, the Seminar will provide a detailed analysis of a topic related to Taiwan, either in history or in the contemporary period.
This special question will change every year but it will be related to:
- The national and international political debates.
- Socio-economic problems.
- Socio-religious problems.
- Population and family questions.

Aims
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | At the end of this course, the student will be capable of identifying the adequate sources, methods and results, in terms of logic and structure, of the in depth analysis of a phenomenon related to Taiwan, understood in its regional context. The student will be able to develop the documentary basis of their essay, to propose different angles from which the topic can be approached. They will be able to devote a special attention to the critique of available sources. |

The Seminar will consist of a series of lectures, upheld with adequate teaching methods, according to the holder of the chair.

Evaluation methods
A critical essay will throw the light on the characteristics of the sources which have been used, their biases and their corollary limits ; the choices made by the authors and their conclusions will also be critically analysed. The student will be able to develop the documentary basis of their essay, to propose different angles from which the topic can be approached. They will be able to devote a special attention to the critique of available sources.
