Content

Gender Equality and Religious Norms
Gender studies and religious studies coexist in universities without interacting very much. The course underlines the importance of an encounter between these areas in order to detect the problematic points. What happens when the equality of women and men, the recognition of sexual and gender identities, same sex couples and other choices are permanently challenged by religious authorities? We could of course take gender equality for granted in a secularized society. However, it is preferable to know about the obstacles still alive in multi-religious and multicultural contexts.
Teaching methods
There will be lectures and also important interactive moments based on texts that have to be read by all participants.
Evaluation methods
The success depends on a regular and active participation.
A written exam will be organized in January 2019.
