Prerequisites
Students have taken course LFIAL1175 in the following semester, as well as LITAL1000.
The course is aimed at first-year students also taking course LROM1170. This course prepares students for the courses LROM1271, LROM1273 and LROM1272.
 
Main themes
The aim of the course is to introduce contemporary Italian history, politics and society.
The course also facilitates a possible ERASMUS exchange in Italy.
 
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Develop writing skills (textual coherence and adequate use of vocabulary).
Discover fundamental aspects of recent Italian history and those features relevant to modern Italian society.

Content
Students are urged to express their ideas and opinions on a specific topic relating to contemporary Italian society (authentic documents). The targeted competence is the writing of texts in which vocabulary and morphosyntactical skills are developed. Students work alone or in small groups under the teacher's supervision.
Evaluation methods
Students will be assessed as follows: 
June session: Written and oral examinations on the course content.
September session: Written and oral examinations on the course content.
