1 | Archivistics is a scientific discipline dealing with conservation, management, and proper use of archives, in whatever medium or format. Instruction will concern first terminology current in the field, and general principles, including technical and legal problems with preservation of data (problems inherent in new technologies of information and communication), questions of selection and elimination, of description and classification of catalogued items for permanent conservation, creation of research instruments (catalogues, inventories, guides, etc.), and the communication of this heritage and demonstration of its value to the larger society. |
