1 | The aim of the course is (a) to understand the foreign policy of the European Union and the political dynamics behind it, and (b) to be able to critically assess EU foreign policy. The course analyses the nature, history, institutional framework and policy-making practices of EU foreign policy and it evaluates the various facets of foreign policy. The course indeed applies a broad understanding of ¿EU foreign policy¿, which encompasses the following facets: Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), external action (trade, development, enlargement, etc.) and the external dimension of internal policies (environment, energy, etc.). Particular attention is paid to the interaction between the EU and multilateral organizations. |
