Main themes

This unit, taught by joint lecturers, enables students to go more deeply into a research project linked to an architectural project from the starting point of a personal issue and to assess critically other students' projects on the same issues.
This unit enables students to define a precise framework for their dissertation (structured question, area of study, research method, state of knowledge in the field, objective and approach).

Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :
1	Design a project Express and prioritise the aims of the projects so as to be able to make choices Test an artistic approach To reformulate, assimilate a question and explore various possible avenues to respond to it Place the action Formulate questions relating to the development of the context being studied to make working hypotheses Make use of other subjects Seek out other approaches, exchanges of views and ways of enhancing thinking about architecture Make strategic use of other subjects to put into question the design and implementation of an architectural project Express an architectural procedure Express ideas clearly in oral, graphic and written form Adopt a professional attitude Organise, plan, develop and bring together the different strands of individual or collective work

Aucun support bibliographique original n'est proposé dans ce module, dans la mesure où il vise à former à l'exploitation de la littérature architecturale et scientifique existante.
Vu le contenu visé, le séminaire fera un usage abondant des publications scientifiques de la revue en ligne « Brussels Studies », des « Etat-Généraux de Bruxelles », des rapports d'études des administrations Bruxelloises (en particulier Bruxelles Environnement et Bruxelles Mobilité) et des travaux de recherches des facultés d'architecture présentes en Région de Bruxelles-Capitale.
De façon plus générale, la documentation sur les propositions architecturales nées en réaction aux constats sociaux et environnementaux sera nourrie des publications d'autres tels que James Wines, James Steele, Pierre Lefevre et Dominique Gauzin Müller, du palmarès de concours tels que le « Global Ward for Sustainable Architecture », et de la production d'architectes tels que Luc Schuiten, Vincent Callebaut, Philippe Madec, Bill Dunster, et bien d'autres. Une bibliographie des ouvrages pertinents disponibles à la bibliothèque BAIU est transmise aux étudiants en début de semestre.
Les TFE réalisés par les étudiant·e·s inscrits à l'atelier de recherche collective « Utopies réalisables » sont également mobilisés.
