The physical and palaeo-anthropology section of the course discusses problematic issues relative to human remains from the archeological sites.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

The aim is to give to archeologists the necessary knowledge to manage and to interpret human remains in collaboration with anthropologist.

Content
Conservative methods, description and measures of human's skeleton pieces will be descripted in theory and in practice. On this base, the interpretation of the results will be considerate to understand the characters retains in divers environments and climates. The human evolution will be explained to show the cognitive new abilities recognized in the archeological material and deduced from some emerging characters.
Teaching methods
Introduction to the differentiation of types of burials and to the analysis of the state and position of  bones in order to understand funeral practices and provide information on the living practices of populations in the past.
Evaluation methods
Oral theoretical and practical examination.
