Main themes
Purpose of the matter General pathophysiology teaching aims at presenting most common disorders, emphasizing the logical and temporal relationships between etiology, pathophysiology and clinical symptoms (natural course of the disease). Consequently, diagnostic approach and therapeutical principles are discussed.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 To acquire the knowledge and the skills allowing to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of common disorders, the rational of diagnostic approach and therapeutics.

Content
Lectures covering most common disorders useful for students in pharmacy and biomedical sciences : arterial hypertension - heart failure - ischemic cardiomyopathy - emphysema - chronic obstructive lung disease and asthma - gastroduodenal ulcer - malabsorption - liver and biliary diseases - diabetes - thyroid disorders - renal disorders - blood and rheumatic diseases - neoplastic disorders.
Other information
Requisite : knowledge of cytology, histopathology, anatomy, biochimistry and human physiology. References : GUYTON, Human physiology and mechanisms of diseases. RUBBINS, Pathologic basis of disease. Exam : multiple choice questions.
