At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

AA-FS-TA. Develop expertise and a high level of competence in the field of adapting audio-visual material into French, from two foreign languages, with a view to participating successfully in the professional multilingual audio-visual sector.

 

Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit

On completing this unit the student is able to:

·         Manage the translation process strictly respecting deadlines, client instructions, and the specific international quality standards that apply to a particular medium

·         Work interactively with other team members

Supply a finished product.

Content
Subtitling of video footage in professional situation relating to communication in the broadest sense of the term (e.g. official, corporate, government, public interest, research or commercial communication). Processing of video footage coming in various file formats. Production of a subtitled video file the content and quality of which prove acceptable to a specialized professional.
Teaching methods
Teaching in presential mode by practice and examples. Acquisition and consolidation of the professional skills and competences. Learning how to manage and subtitle video footage with various types of technical content, difficulty levels, lengths, and linguistic quality. Qualitative feedback by the teacher who comments on the corrected subtitled work from the point of view of a potential client.
Evaluation methods
Continuous certificational evaluation based on the subtitling works carried out in class. The final mark is an average of all marks obtained during this course according to the AA of the TU. September exam : subtitling work on the topics dealt with in the course.
