Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

AA-FS-TA. Develop expertise and a high level of competence in the field of adapting audio-visual material into French, from two foreign languages, with a view to participating successfully in the professional multilingual audio-visual sector.

 

Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit

On completing this unit the student is able to:

·         Manage the translation process strictly respecting deadlines, client instructions, and the specific international quality standards that apply to a particular medium

·         Work interactively with other team members

Supply a finished product.

Content
The course is taught in the computer room with machines running EZTitles© software. The teaching is professional training. Students are trained to deliver a final product that would meet the quality requirements of the workplace.
Teaching methods
The students use the professional program EZTitles©. The LSTI subtitling assignments are first reviewed in a number of audiovisual files. The students take part in FIDEC Huy, subtitling the shorts to be screened in the festival. This work is done in pairs. For the second part of the course each student subtitles a video file individually and independently.
Evaluation methods
For the first exam session the students taking the course are assessed on the basis of their participation in FIDEC Huy and the individual work that they submit. Students taking part in the third exam session will be set an individual assignment.

Prerequisites: participants must have taken LTRAD2400 TAV and LTRAD2421 in Master 1.
