The course will focus on the production of Ibsen's plays, from 1880 to the present day. Having questioned the idea of the 'Naturalist-Symbolist crossroads (J.-P. Sarrazac) at the end of the XIXth century, we will try to understand to what extent the plays of Ibsen both challenge stage practice and also raise issues in the thinking and representation of contemporary society, from France to Iran. (Directors studied : André Antoine, Nader Borhani Marand, Stephane Braunschweig, Lee Breuer, Alain Françon, Kamaludin Nilu, Thomas Ostermeier, Lugné-Poe, Michael Thalheimer, Ivo Van Hove, Vegard Vinge, Peter Zadek etc.).
