To achieve the objectives defined in this course, two modules are set up: Module A'''Seminar of methodology. An interdisciplinary group working under the guidance of a professor will be formed. It is a question of learning to practice the profession of a theologian by working on practical questions or by simulating a situation in which a theologian is led to work. Thus, it will be shown how theological disciplines can collaborate among themselves in the construction of a theological discourse. Module B'''Methodology in the form of a course. It will begin with general questions.
  • Finding a problem and making a plan
  • Writing an introduction and a conclusion
  • Writing a scientific work
  • Preparing a presentation using PowerPoint
Methodological and more precisely theological considerations will follow

Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of the course, the student will be able:

  • to understand and apply the concepts, heuristic methods and analytical practices specific to various disciplines;
  • to establish links between different disciplines addressed during the term, using the approaches proposed by the Professor(s), for example synoptic tables;
  • to master the structure and logic of an academic discourse so that he/she can not only understand but also write such discourses;
  • to manage with relevance and efficiency different tools and equipment made available by the Professor(s) and the instructor in order to make his/her learning more effective, and to promote its success;
  • to acquire a methodology and a regular and rigorous mode of work specific to university requirements, which will make him/her the main performer of his/her training.

Content
The course aims to introduce students to some basic functions and requirements of the academic discourse. This will include the specificities of the academic context, the modalities of selection, operation and presentation of sources within a scientific text, the terms of the oral presentation accompanied by visual support and the modalities of preparation of an oral or a written examination. He/she will then devote himself/herself to various methodologies specific to theology.

Different formative evaluations are organized during the year. The assessment of a student will be based on written and oral work.
