  • the training of interactive communication,
  • the presentation and training of communication skills (everyday socializing, telephoning, contributing to a meeting, a debate or a negotiation, writing a report, a summary,  an e-mail, presentation on a topic related to the field of study),
  • the improvement of the command of general and specific vocabulary and grammar in order to put these communication skills into practice.
Teaching methods
  • Lessons in groups of max. 20 students
  • Workload
    Classroom hours : 30 hours
    Self-study (including e-learning): 90 h
This teaching unit focuses on interactive communication. The proposed written and oral activities therefore aim at developing communication skills in that area, as well as improving the command of the language.
These activities are of two types:
  1. presentation and training of language functions (everyday socializing, telephoning, contributing to a meeting, a debate or a negotiation, writing a summary,  an e-mail,),
  2. individual and interactive speaking activities related to the field of study. This part includes a presentation on a topic related to the field of study.
These activities require a certain amount of preparation on the part of the student, who also has to improve his or her linguistic knowledge autonomously (study of vocabulary and revision of grammar points by means of e-learning on wallangues.be).
Evaluation methods
  • Continuous assessment (participation in class, writing of a summary, presentation of a field- related subject, interactive test and vocabulary test).  This assessment counts for 50% in the final assessment.
  • Oral exam based on a file of presentations given in class. This exam counts for 50% in the final assessment.
