On completion of this course the student will be able to: · Deploy analytical methods and comprehension techniques to distinguish between essential and non-essential content in a talk; · Develop the ability to find the degree of detachment that makes possible an in-depth analysis of the talk; · Identify and critique existing theoretical models likely to be helpful in the development of his or her interpreting practice; · Be able to offer a critical appreciation of the issues arising from recent research developments in the different domains of interpreting; · Demonstrate critical acumen in assessing sources; · Deploy his or her communication skills before diverse interlocutors; Demonstrate self-mastery and communicate in such a way as to establish an atmosphere of confidence with his or her listeners; |
