  • historical and theoretical situation given equal weight
  • use of analytical instruments : plans, cross-sections, elevation
  • a new issue for each session of the course

Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

The focus of this teaching unit  - understanding the link between writing and building ¿ involves a lengthy list of the mechanics of composition, from considered and speculative thinking procedures relevant to writing to the practical and architectural procedures relevant to building.

Specific learning outcomes:

By the end of this course, students are able to

  • find their way in an architectural field using a corpus formed of written and/or built knowledge
  • make use of this corpus to support a reasoned and critical approach in the architectural field
  • revert to the approach and the corpus formed in the architectural field.

Contribution to the learning outcome reference framework:

  • build knowledge of architecture
  • Be familiar with and analyse the basic references
  • Be able to use given references which, by analogy, can lead to other interpretations of the context
  • Develop and make use of knowledge in the discipline
