Main themes
Flexible and rigid indirect laryngoscopy, suspension laryngoscopy, fibroscopy assessment of swallowing, videofluoroscopy, objective voice assessment including perceptual and self-perception scales, aerodynamic and acoustical measurements, dysfunctional dysphonia, exudative lesions of the Reinke's space ( nodules,polyp, Reinke's edema), retentional and epidermoid cysts, sulcus and related lesions, scars and larynx trauma, granuloma, paralysis and mobility disorders, hypertrophic chronic laryngitis, larynx cancer, papillomatosis, presbyphonia, oral cavity and velum lesions, superior esophageal sphincter dysfunction, Zenker's diverticulum, ORL lesions related to gastroesophageal reflux
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Teaching of voice and swallowing disorders, their assessment as well as their medical and surgical treatment. Present methods for assessment including flexible and rigid indirect laryngoscopy, suspension laryngoscopy, imaging, and objective voice assessment are presented. Pathology is extended from dysfunctional dysphonia to voice and swallowing problems related to Head & Neck cancer. Disorders related to the child and the aged patient are included.

Other information
This course is part of the interuniversity master's degree in speech therapy UCL-ULB. The course is presented in visioconference between Louvain-La-Neuve and the Solbosch (ULB).It is based on powerpoint presentations and videoclips; an Icampus version is edited on the UCL Intranet. Exam is written with open questions. The course is held during the second period of the year and exams take place in June and September
