an introductory knowledge of Spanish literature and a good proficiency in Spanish (advanced level, B2  in terms of the Common European reference framework).
Main themes
The course consists of a comprehensive study of Spanish literary texts. Philological, linguistic, contextual information, etc will allow students to deepen their understanding of the works. Some theoretical and methodological considerations and critical use of the secondary literature on the works will allow them to produce their own reading and interpretation.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of the course, students will be able to develop a deeper interpretation, verbatim, methodologically and theoretically based, on one or more work (s ) .Major (s) of Spanish literature , which has ( have ) the subject of the course. There also will be able to develop an epistemological reflection about the critical corpus on the work in question.

Content
After a brief historical-literary contextualization, these works will be considered under three main headings:
1) a textual and philological analysis,
2) a hermeneutical approach that questions the relationship of contemporary literary criticism to the mystical poetry,
3) an analysis of translations that puts into perspective the history of the reception of the text.
Teaching methods
The course consists of a careful and rigorous analysis of texts of Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) and John of the Cross (1542-1591), based on philological research, historical and more recent literature.
