Prerequisites
This teaching unit being of lower-intermediate level, students should have a satisfactory productive knowledge of the basic grammar and vocabulary and have reached the A2 level (reading, listening and speaking) of the " Common European Framework of reference for Languages " (CEFR). The teaching unit LNEER 2600 can logically follow the teaching unit LNEER 2500.

Main themes
This teaching unit is structured around different themes related primarily to the professional world in which the student is meant to function in the future. Different subject-matters linked to current events will also be discussed. The teaching unit focuses on the practice of interactive spoken language.

Content
This teaching unit involves
- the revision and extension of general vocabulary as well as specific (field-related) vocabulary,
- the revision of specific Dutch structures by means of oral and written exercices. There will be no systematic teaching of grammatical theory,
- the training and development of reading and listening skills.
Teaching methods
- Groups of maximum 20 students.

Workload :
30 teaching hours
42 hours of autonomous work - Mainly practical speaking exercices based on reading files related to the proàfessional world, the study field of current affairs.
- Course material : the student receives part of the cours material in the first class and the rest gradually during the year, as the TU is mainly based on current affairs (economy, science, society,'). A general, professional vocabulary list and another one more specific to each student's study filed will be sent to the student by mail. On request, the student may ask for extra grammatical exercises and their corrections.
Evaluation methods
6/20 go to continuous assessment (2 for participation in class, 2 for written tasks, 2 for oral taskts).
The evaluation of writing skills will be organised during the last week and will count for 6/20. Speaking skills will be tested during the last week of the term or during the exam session and will count for 8/20.
In case the student fails, he/she will take the examen again during the following session (in june or september. In that case, the written part will count for 8/20 and the oral part for 12/20.

Acces to this teaching unit : before validating the student's programme, the limited jury should make sure, if the student has chosen to integrate this teaching unit, that the coordinator has confirmed his/her enrolment in one of the groups, this allowing for a good organization of groups within the Insitut des Langues Vivantes.
