Prerequisites
The first two years of the Bachelor's course in Philosophy

The prerequisite(s) for this Teaching Unit (Unité d’enseignement – UE) for the programmes/courses that offer this Teaching Unit are specified at the end of this sheet.
Main themes
1) The topic of the individual final project must be sufficiently precise and defined so as to consist of between 105,000 and 115,000 characters (including spaces), or approximately 40 pages of text. It should refer to one or more authors as a starting point to develop the idea of the project and should include an in-depth interpretation of a series of reference texts. 
2) The topic of the project must be agreed with the supervisor. Students should meet their supervisors regularly during the year according to the timetable set out for this. In particular, students should decide on their topic by the end of October. Once it has been approved and countersigned by the supervisor, the subject should be handed in to the Faculty secretariat.
3) Work should be handed in according to the timetable laid down by the Faculty.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

By completing a individual final project, students gain an introduction to research by having to demonstrate their ability to give an account of a philosophical issue, under the supervision of a lecturer.

In particular, they will demonstrate their ability to:

1) become familiar with the literature on the philosophical issue and to deal with it in an informed and coherent way.

2) make appropriate use of research tools by meeting prevailing academic criteria.

3) construct and set out their arguments correctly, clearly and in a well-structured way.
