Content
The course will survey the policies of Education & Vocational training, Research, Culture & Audiovisual successively. As far as possible give the time constraints, the actions of the EU regarding Youth and Sport will be raised briefly. A systematic interdisciplinary approach will be followed: historical, sociological and economic aspects, legal issues, programmes, budgets etc. The course shows how the promotion of Culture and of Education can be a sphere of action for the European institutions. It emphasizes the different constraints which these policies are facing as well as the specific requirements of the sectors involved and the international dimension. Also, the course contents a presentation of the origin and the development of the Research policy, its instruments ('Framework Programme') and its current issues.

Written exam (in case of duly justified unavailability, an oral examination could be organized).
