Main themes
To meet these objectives, the course deals with the following: introduction to religious thought, rites, practices and institutions of Judaism. Special attention is paid to the various streams of Judaism, their sources and their specific contributions.
Aims
By the end of this course, the student should be able to understand the main articulations and particular accents of Judaism, the background of its history and its present evolution.

Content

We begin with a summary of Jewish history (from 589 BC to 135 AD), and go on presenting old Jewish literature from a biblical point of view (...) Special attention will be drawn towards rabbinic text interpretation methods.
