Prerequisites

The tutorial of Pierre Piret has for prerequisite the Course ROM 2710, Literary Aesthetics.

Main themes

The tutorial will deepen a precise theoretical question.
According to the given problematic, the examples will be chosen in various literatures and various periods.

Aims

This tutorial is related to LROM2710, Literary Aesthetics.
It follows the same objectives than this course, but it aims mainly at promoting the exportation of the theoretical tools explained during the course and their personal use by students.
The tutorial is therefore an initiation to personal research and prepares to the writing of a thesis in its different steps (analysis, problematic, validation, redaction).

The contribution of this Teaching Unit to the development and command of the skills and learning outcomes of the programme(s) can be accessed at the end of this sheet, in the section entitled “Programmes/courses offering this Teaching Unit”.

Evaluation methods

It concerns the oral presentation, the report writes and the participation in the collective research work. The success of the examination supposes to have satisfied these three conditions.

Teaching methods

The issue to be dealt with is set out by the lecturer during the initial classes. On this basis, students undertake a research study which leads to an oral presentation and subsequently a written report which takes account of the sharing of results.

Content

Two possibilities are offered to the student :

- a tutorial concerning the philosophy of the literature, by the Professor Michel Lisse;

- a tutorial concerning the literary aesthetics, by the Professor Pierre Piret.

The worked problems are specified at the beginning of every academic year (information meeting, valves ROM). They are exponed by the teacher during the first working sessions. On this base, the students realize a research work which results in an oral presentation, then in a written report which takes into account the experiences of the pooling of the results.

Bibliography

A bibliography drawn up to reflect the current year's programme is available on moodle.
