We will discuss the actual literature on morphological, syntactic, and semantic topics and its implications for modern linguistic theory.
Description and explanation of grammatical phenomena in German, also with respect to similar phenomena in related languages (for example, English and French).
Content will vary according to students' interests. A wide range of topics will be proposed.
At the end of the seminar, students should have developed insight into the research methods in different areas of German and comparative (theoretical) linguistics. They should be able to formulate research hypotheses and to develop research methods / strategies to verify these hypotheses.

The evaluation will be based on students' active involvement in the seminar. It will also involve an oral presentation on a topic of their choice in relation to the themes of the seminar.
