Main themes

1. The course covers two linguistics fields: Dutch phonetics and phonology, and Dutch morphology;
2. Introduction to the reading (and writing) of scientific articles;
3. Presentation of reference books.

Aims

Provide a foundation course in Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. The students should also be able to analyse reference books with a criticizing mind.

Content

The course is an introduction to Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. Phonetics and phonology (vowels, diphthongs, consonants; co-articulation; accentuation and intonation). Morphology (especially lexical morphology, loanwords and neologisms).
