Aims

This advanced seminar is designed to provide the theoretical and empirical foundations of psychological interventions in psychotherapy. It is organized jointly by UCL and UG (CPIG3012), according to the special interests of the lecturers at each institution.

The contribution of this Teaching Unit to the development and command of the skills and learning outcomes of the programme(s) can be accessed at the end of this sheet, in the section entitled “Programmes/courses offering this Teaching Unit”.

Content

They could include : - Models for the relationship between emotion/cognition in psychopathology and clinical intervention - Models and practices in integrative psychotherapy (including introduction to current trends in psychological intervention based on empirical data) - Models and practices in psychological interventions in children and adolescents - Models and practices in psychological interventions in the disabled - Models and practices in psychological interventions in couples and families - Psychopharmacology (interaction between psychotropic drugs and psychological intervention) - Neuropsychological models of schizophrenia - Neuropsychological models of trauma - Methodology of single case studies and research in psychological intervention - Use of databases and the literature The lectures take the form of six hour modules. Students are expected to have completed the reading list before each module.
Other information
The lecturers will arrange to teach the courses grouped together as a module for one ECTS credit (this is equivalent to a full day of classes and a reading list). Each module will be taught in both countries (lecturer mobility).The modules may change according to a three year cycle.
